Post Draft Thoughts

Sunday's draft marks the beginning of another fantasy season and the near beginning of the 2018 NFL regular season. Sterling Shepard. Each team in the league spent a few hours loading up with big-name players, some rookies, and a few deep sleepers that have the potential to blow up and be keepers moving forward. Sterling Shepard.

Speaking of keepers, holy shit. I don't think we got out of the first round before Casey had to roll back the draft and remind us that there are several players spoken that can't be selected. Sitting next to Jason P. at Mandy and Alex's house, I think I heard the word Yahoo at least 200 times. Sterling Shepard.

It's hard to tell whose team has an advantage right now. Everybody has a chance, but there are a few teams, in my opinion, Sterling Shepard, that have a slight edge. Personally, I think Pat, Casey, Jason P, Cory, and myself have the best teams right after the draft. Sterling Shepard. But, as Alex showed all of us last year, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. There is a lot of football to be played. It's inevitable that some of those big-name players will under perform, a waiver claim will explode, and there are bound to be some injuries.

Sterling Shepard.

I wish the absolute worst of luck to all of you.

Proposed Rule Changes

There have been a few proposed rule changes that could possibly affect the upcoming draft. Since 12 people texting back and forth is a bad way to track who wants what, especially since JW is texting from a payphone, here's a few polls we can vote on to make things easier.

Majority wins. Since there's 12 of us, if there is a six-to-six tie, the decision falls to the commissioner.

The questions can be answered here.

Preseason Post

Being an avid fantasy football player, especially in a competitive league like this one, is a lot like being a Bruce Springsteen fan. Four out of five of his songs are “you’re my best girl, hop in my ride and let’s go have the time of our lives.” But that fifth song is “God isn’t real, everything is terrible, and by being born in this town, our death warrant was signed.” I know it’s a stretch, but very few things that bring so much joy can also cause so much pain. Bruce simultaneously makes me love the world, but every once in a while he makes me hate everyone and everything.

We’re almost there. The draft is a week away, the preseason is in full swing, and Jason Pierce has brought up how much better Yahoo’s platform is at least a dozen times. This year I’ll again be doing a weekly preview, but instead of having it posted on ESPN’s site, I’ll be posting in this blog, so I can add pictures and videos. Pictures like this one, pertaining to Alex's championship last year.

It will be a little more interactive and instead of having to go to the league page, I can text the link to that week’s blog post. It’ll be a little easier for me, and hopefully, a lot better for all of you.

Mandy, Alex, Casey, Cory, Kyle, Pat, JW, Jason, Phil, Jeff, and Dean, I wish you all the worst of luck and I hope that there’s a way that you can all lose every game you play, or at least tie every game and lose to me. This will also be the last time I’ll ever refer to any of you by your real names. I don’t know nicknames for all of you yet, but I’m working on it.

For example, Kyle is now Phil Thickelson.

Also, Casey, get a trophy for the winner this year. Do it.
